CRbalsa, own its own plantations. Balsa trees (Ochroma pyramidale) are fast-growing trees that are native to Central and South America. They are grown commercially for their lightweight, strong, and buoyant wood, which is used in a variety of applications such as model airplanes, rafts, surfboards, and as a core material in sandwich panels. Balsa wood plantations are established to ensure a supply of high-quality balsa wood, which is harvested after 4-6 years of growth. The trees are typically planted in rows and spaced out to allow for maximum sunlight and air circulation. In addition to their economic benefits, balsa wood plantations also provide environmental benefits such as carbon sequestration, soil conservation, and habitat for wildlife.
